Tyres

Muffs in Morocco  And crutches

You've obviously never ridden down through Spain in January:eek::eek:

Eggzackaly and as for the crutches..............insurance for when (not if) my leg breaks :thumb

Oh, and just to reinforce Bilco's point..............this picture was taken the next day up in the Atlas (and yes the K60's did their job :))

Wow - great picture.

Definitely on my must do list! Nice one ...

I've had a set of EXP's and have to admit, whilst I thought they were a cracking tyre for grip, they were just too soft. I think I got about three and a half K out the back before it was shot.
My bike's my toy, I don't commute on it so I'm quite happy to put my money on tyre performance as opposed to tyre life. But yes - the EXP's did wear far too quickly. Nice and grippy though .. :thumb2

I've had my current bike nearly 2 years. I do a commute from Sheffield to Birmingham city centre and back for 10 days each month. All M1 and A38 save for a few miles through the centre of Birmingham. I have 19000+ miles on the bike. I am on my second set of EXPs (1 set from new, 2nd set changed at around 8000 miles. A lot of the miles are during the Autumn and early spring. The maths speak for themselves riding style rather than heat has a big bearing perhaps

Yes. My point is, depending on your riding style, depends on how hot and stressed you get your tyres. (so when I mention heat I don't mean a nice hot august day - I mean how hard are you working yer tyres..). If you take a steady commute and don't cane it like yer stole it, (and If I was commuting by bike i'd be eeking every last mpg and mm of tyre life that I could..) you'd see a far improved tyre life.

But .... I do accept ... some are clearly a lot softer than others ... like the EXP's or Richies BT thingies. :thumb

(Having said that, if you rode yer bike to Spain in thirty degree August two up with luggage and spanked it, you'd probably do a rear tyre in two weeks :D).

Does spanking make things wear quicker then?? I'm now worried my arse will cease functioning before the rest of me :-(

That would indeed be serious and obviously our loss as well, as you'd never be able to post anything again. :)

I'd be more worried about yer knob than yer arse cuz ..... :thumb2

I'm surprised, I've found them really useful on both Peak District lanes (mud/rock) and in Maroc (sand/gravel) :nenau

If you check out reviews on this site everybody really rates them :thumb2

Mind you, they ain't much good in very wet sand :D

Ahhhhhhh tyre choices :nenau

Are you going off road at all Podrick?? If you are and you still want an 'adventure' tyre then I really recomend the Dunlop TR91.

I'm always happy to try new tyres and experiment, but having tried these I wouldn't use another adventure tyre now. Excellent tyre. :thumb2

(if yer not planning on going off road at all ...... choices choices ... ).

Just out of interest Giles, and thinking of a change from my ever favourites Anakee, how do you rate the "wear" of the TR91?
