I've noticed there appears to be a space for a U-lock below the pillion seat (under the plastic load area). Has anybody got one to fit in??

I've noticed on the Wunderlich site they advertise the Abus Granit X Plus 54" Lock under the 1200GS section, I'm assuming this fits??

That's what I assumed as well. Don't have one, and Nippy Norman said a while back that Abus don't import them so it'll be having to pay all that mark up to Wunderlich / SPC / anyone else on top of the "normal" price.

...ah bollocks, somebody's taking the piss again. Must think BMW owners are soft and made of cash.

Bought today

Bought a Abus Granit x-plus 54 at 300 mm shackle length from Nippy Norman (whose name is justified IMHO). It fits under the seat including the lock (if you've a 05 toolkit and the seat's high), see pictures on his website soon.

Eh up John,

next time I see you at Williams, can I tryy i to see if it fits under my low seat?

check out Hein Gericke

In their 2004 catalogue that ABUS model is listed as HG number 22025074 at GBP45-99. Is that good or bad????????

The shackle should easily, the bit I'm unsure about is the lock. I'm going to see if it fits under the seat when the "normal" seat is in the low position.

NN specifically sells this for the purpose of going under the seat:

That's showing how you can get the normal seat on in the high position.

With the "normal" seat in the "low" you can't get the seat to fit properly. The shackle does still fit in the slots under the pillion seat. And I can't see how the "low" seat will allow you to put the lock part in the tool tray either. But as I haven't got a low seat I can't categorically state what you'll be able to do. Sorry:(

Having collected my GS today, got my bits and pieces together and removed the seat....I was somewhat shocked.

On the SV I got toolkit, large disc lock, visor spray, puncture repair kit, glove liners, neck warmer and thermal top. I could even get a digi camera in.

Aha, thought I, there must be space under the load cover. But no.

So nowhere for a flippin lock. And as Im a shortarse I await the low seat position/lock trial with interest. I dont have much faith in those U-locks tho???

My father once complained there was no storage space in his BMW car. The dealer told him it was so owners didnt make them untidy with clutter :D

The lock part of mine fits down the right side of the tank behind the little black plastic cover. Sits in there neatly and doesn't affect the seat fitting. The straps for my tank cover also fit behind the little plastic cover and also hold the lock in place shopuld the cover come loose. Sorry about pic quality it's dark and cold in my garage.

Good tip. Are these locks any good? I was a bit concerned that NN describes it as a lock for valauble motorcycles of 'medium' security!
