After nearly throwing away my Vista laptop as its too slow to be of any use, I thought I'd give Linux a go. I've installed Ubuntu 9.10 and junked the vista installation. I use Firefox and Openoffice anyway so am familiar with them.
I've managed to install Firestarter to help with the firewall configuration and I have menu shortcuts for it.
I've also installed (and uninstalled) AVG and ClamAV. Unlike Firestarter, I can't find any shortcuts for either in the menus, but when installed they're shown as installed in the synaptic package manager.
So are they all working? I realise Linux operates differently to Windows but shouldn't there be a clickable shortcut for AVG or ClamAV somewhere to configure them?
I also presume Firestarter is working but again, there isn't anything in a 'task bar' to indicate it's working.
Any suggestions and help (other than buy a mac
) appreciated.
