Was included in the R12GS package but none , even the BMW mechanic have a clue what is for!!

The +ve battery terminal stud?

John when you say (The +ve battery terminal stud?) where exactly does it go on the bike.

It certainly looks like the bolt that holds the wire to the positive battery terminal.

If you lift the red plastic cover over the +ve terminal of the battery, you should see one of these "mystery bolts". I guess you've been given a spare, no idea why though. Unless yours is missing, but you'd probably have noticed that
