Hi Folks
I need a uk phone number for family reasons..I wouldnt be using it very often but would need it for incoming contact..is there a sim card I could buy that would basicly not expire after 6 or 12 months?
thanks
John

I don't know if this is of any help. I have a pre-pay Irish sim card. I top up by €5 every 6 months to keep it active.
Presumably there is a UK equivalent. Up to recently I kept this sim on my personal phone (dual sim) so that it was easy to keep an eye for incoming calls.

I am pretty sure all PAYG SIMS will be deactivated if you do not make a chargeable call or text in 6 months, wiping any credit with it. Some may have a shorter period.
Why not just stick a fiver on a PAYG SIM and put a recurring reminder in your calendar to make an outgoing call every 5 months? Top up once the credit drops to a quid.

Get an id mobile SIM I pay £9 pcm for unlimited calls, SIM and internet.

Lebara.

£5 a month, before the 50% discount on a rolling contract, cancelable at any time. That’s sixteen pence a day, or eight for the duration of the introductory discount. I have one in my sacrificial phone.

Not just a case with some companies of sticking a fiver a month on the card, mother in law had a paygo O2 mobile for emergency use and never used it , after 12 months of inactivity they cancelled the number and SIM and kept the £70 plus credit

I have the above Lebara (after Wapping suggested it in another post) in use in a security camera.
Auto tops up every month.

Just remember to use it every few months, just make a single call.

I actually use mine for data only, and even that should suffice for not having it cancelled.
