Just back from an amazing run from the south of England all they way home to Malta, over 7 days, nice and easy holiday which incorporated the purchase of a Triple Black
Day 1. Dorset > Euro Tunnel > Calais > Lille
It all started with a pint of local bitter, love this stuff, pity we don’t have this black home!
Picked up the bike from CW Motorcycles, I recommend these guys to anyone, they gave me an excellent service and assisted with any last minute things I needed.
Made my way to a hotel in Crewkerne, Haselbury Mills, really nice place off the beaten track.
Headed to pickup the wife who flew in to join me on the way down. On the way towards the tunnel, passed a sign to Stonehenge, so what the hell, first detour.
The wife and I
She’s not used to it yet
Waiting at the channel tunnel, heading to France
Arrived in France and checked into a hotel called Le Campanile, nothing wow, but good enough.
Headed into town for supper, nice place.
Day 2. Lille > Reims > Dijon
Decided to head down towards the Notre Dame, get some sights in.
Quick pitstop, we’re not used to riding for so long, Malta is tiny so crossing the country takes 30mins max!
Stopped at a hotel in Dijon and hit the sack, long and tiring day!
Day 3. Dijon > Luzern
Crossing into Switzerland, perfect sunny weather and winding roads!
Bug Check
The Beast
Checked in to a hotel in Luzern, Switzerland is expensive!
Day 4. Luzern > Livigno
Was out early and popped into the town of Luzern.
Started heading towards livigno, through the San Bernardino Pass
In the mountains the temperature dropped to 1 Degrees, frozen and wet, but still was an amazing ride!
Quick stop to warm up with a nice cup of coffee, wife not very impressed with the cold!
Down towards Livigno
Checked into La Montanina, a hotel / pub owned by a ski instructor who we ski with in the winter months.
Day 5. Livigno > Stelvo > Genoa
Today was a bit of a rush since we had to reach the Ferry from Genoa to Palermo by 6pm.
Passing next to Lago di Como
Arrived at the Ferry in 34 Degrees, god I miss the cold mountain passes!
Day 6. Genoa > Palermo > Enna (Via Ferry)
20 Hour ferry ride, spent asleep in a cabin.
Day 7. Enna > Pozzallo > Malta (Via Ferry)
Arrived in Sicily and headed to an Agritourismo to unwind for 2 days by the pool!
Two days of bliss passed and we headed to Pozzallo to catch the ferry back home. Met another brit who moved to Malta and brought down his Mini!
2,500 Miles later I’m back home and already planning the next one. The bike is a fantastic machine, comfortable, easy to ride and has enough power when needed.
I’ll try and export the routes I took from the GPS logs for anyone who wants to visit these places ☺ - Thanks again for the advice given in the other forum during the planning stages!
