UKGSer 'Dent event' Friday 19th - Sunday 21st May 2017

Listen up all you piss takers ... I hope to be up there over the New Year, just to check to see how the two hostelries cope under pressure, beer supply, quality, quantity, food, quality and quantity thereof :thumby:

It's a very difficult job, one that I couldn't encumber on anyone else, it just wouldn't be fair :D

Oh, that :D should have been a :rob :blast

:beerjug:

You should press gang Mr Bear into accompanying you,if the food supplies can cope with his presence we will be fine :D

Mr k will be organising a walking bus to and from the pub for all the infirm of leg or brain.
Hiviz is not mandatory I think he is looking for some one to don the nurse uniform to administer first aid if required.

The ancient cobble stones haven't been the same since his landing.

I asked about the beer, apparently "It's not southern beer down here, it's northern beer"

Which, coming down from Kingussie I have to say I'm looking forward to :thumb2

I won't have to pop in to Aviemore and pick up any "sheepshaggers" then I presume!

That sounds ideal to me! Unfortunately, I can't see the photos and my work blocks the photo sites (apart from uploaded jpegs).
Are you bringing any of your famous tarts with you?
A pal of mine, from Sheffield, got married there a few years ago and we had a great night in the pub just across from the registry office.

Will do better next May

Will there be GSer Beer Towels :augie

May I add my name to the list 2 nights camping (in a quiet section) you know how it is Micky:aidan

My wife and I will be up there in the wobbly box from either Tuesday or Wednesday next week returning home on New Years Day (after lunch) with the main aim being to do a couple of decent day rides on the mountain bikes taking in as many pubs as possible over a distance of around 30 miles. The difficult part is getting back before dark after being sidetracked in one pub too many but she's also going to want to visit tea rooms which is an unnecessary diversion :blast

Best solution is to turn left out of the gate cycle a couple of hundred yards or so and stop at the first pub. Enjoy a beer or two then cycle a further few yards further for another beer or three. Return back to the first and another few beers before returning to the second pub. Repeat as necessary or until your legs get tired from pedalling :thumby:

It's not such a bad idea but I'm actually looking at lying to my wife and telling her the road up and over Kingsdale is pretty flat and doesn't have any gates you have to stop and open.

If she makes it to Ingleton then I'll tell her that it's much flatter going back if we go to Ribblesdale and stop at the Hill Inn on the way up. She managed to average 30 miles a day when we were in Monschau last summer and every road out of that place involves a steep hill with hairpins :D
