Ullapool for a wee jaunt.

Had a weekend up around Ullapool a few weeks ago, lovely weather too.

Tent

It's a Tera Nova Laser space 2, packs down small, only 1 main pole, weighs 2.5 kilos and is 6 foot hih inside, nice porch that you can sit 2 chairs in, a tad expensive new, I got mine 2nd hand from Fleabay.

but have you tried the Clachtol campsite near Lochinver ?

this has to be tried, it's like an idyllic tropical island with a beautiful beach. only downsides is no bar and 5 miles from anywhere.

Spectacular location and pubs on hand too!

Cracking breakfast in the cafe by the gates too !

I think that one's shut...well it was a few weeks back, but the breakfast in the place above the walking/climbing gear shop is first class. When that one is shut..ie Sunday, there is a little place further down the road that is good.

Now about this tent.......the last time I was there I passed a very comfy night in the sitting area of Whattons van, perhaps this is the way forward, just wait till they've gone to bed and squat on their sofa?

I got a quick notice run from Auchterarder to Ullapool and back to Stirling for a wee jaunt last Wednesday. I would much rather have been on the bike though.

I was there about three years ago and Jay Kay (Jamiroquai) drove past while we were having a cuppa. he was in some huge feck off white Audi Q9 (??) leaning out the window, music up loud, fag on the go, looking at our bikes and then a big thumbs up ..

He's got a wee cottage in Gairloch out at Red Point so all local. Nice wee place with a stunning location. Bought it in 1999
