Who picked up Scotland and stuck it down in southern Spain? Just had 2 of the best days on the best roads in the country ever😎
That 30 miles or so from Ullapool to Garve is heaven! In Ft Bill tonight

I envy you this weather. It was freezing and miserable when I was in Ullapool earlier this year.

Great pubs to visit by the way, in case you hadn't thought of what you were going to do this evening.

I had an epic few days, riding up to JOG, along the top and down the west coast including Skye, where I lay, awaking from my Skye Brewwery induced slumber, in the b&b watching the telly, telling me Skye was likely to be the hottest place in the UK that day.

....2003 it was, on me F650GS with ballistic on his Africa....

:beerjug:

Local roads for me, went there for fish 'n chip supper tonight, good ride out. Glad you enjoyed that road.

:flag Normal summer service resumed. Heavy weekend rain :( after a week of sitting in a too hot office. At least the rains a bit warmer now than at other times of the year.

Jeez! You sound like my late father............

"Don't go to Ullapool in September - you won't be able to get accommodation"
"Don't buy a Ford - they are notoriously bad for starting"

There are two generations passed through Ullapool since then, and I can testify that the Seaforth in Ullapool - consistently produces the best haddock and chips, I have had.

Ullapool is a cracking bike destination.

aye, your mum was a looker, laddie.:D

When I had my little West coast jaunt a few weeks ago I rode through Ullapool and decided it was somewhere I wouldn`t want to stop at. I even had a bit of a ride around in case I had missed the good bit.

Any particular reason(s) ?

Both the 'Fort' and Ullapool always strike me as almost frontier towns when you ride in, a bit like Dawson city of old but without the gold, gunslingers and hookers,at least that would apply to Ullapool i think.

That'll be why GS-riders stand on the footpegs as they arrive.................

(pm me with the details of the hookers ;) )

Was there 10 days ago. Weather was the usual (p*ssing it down) but when it stops the roads are brilliant.

We were staying near Gairloch so did most local roads inc Bealach na Ba from Applecross instead of the usual towards. Friday 26th we went via Ullapool up to Scourie, great road, then back via Lochinver. Saw lots of Scots GSs, us on GS LC and K1300GT.

Midges weren't too bad either!

I loved Ullapool and beyond on the two GOTCs I attended.

What's happened to Klanky ?

Ullapool is a good wee town, some nice bars if you look, a good beer festival and a good campsite or plenty hotels and b&b's and a good bunkhouse with private rooms.

Worth going to I reckon. May pop in on Friday as I'm due to be out and about
