Ullapool sur-mer?

Klanky is alive and well and living in Greenland or Shetland or somewhere a long way away with polar bears and such...

That was a good run round the north the last one eh?

Ullapool for me sat 11th July.
Weather not looking to good.

looks good on SV and a few Tossers:

A run to Ullapool and an overnight stay - makes for a good weekend or midweek trip.

Some pics - over the years.....................:thumb2

Braw Fish and Chips :D

Miss the klondykers, all the PD and Broch boats in loch Broom, all a dream now. Why is the past so evocative, just mention a place when your old and grey and whoosh your back in time. Even the bad bits are good like old Brit bikes.

I was there at the weekend, weather was a bit mixed but the town was full. There was a skiff regatta on plus a tall ship in town.
And beer and fish suppers. Good value

There is an excellent exhibition on at the museum at the moment recalling the klondyker years. Plenty of photographs and audio from folk who were involved at the time. Well worth a look for anyone who has an interest.

Thanks westcoast traveller, would but my Linda has a biggy operation coming up and needs must for me to stay at home. Still remember the little shuttle orange boats and the East european guys friendliness. All a memory like my mates boaties Fairway and Challenge. Where are you now Phil?

What happened to Klanky ?

Not sure. Think he was working in Shetland.
I'll ask Ronno...he may know more.
Old Klankenstein does indeed work on Shetland but now lives (AFAIK) in Northumberland. He also spends time at his renovated holiday home in Bulgaria. He's often on Facbook and seems to be enjoying life

Blast from the past indeed .....and I'm still in Ullapool at least a couple of times per year. Observations from 2015 to now......accommodation is over double the price than what it was, even with inflation. NC500 has choked the fantastic roads with motorhomes and bikes who just race from location to location and tick off boxes but see nothing. I still love it but go 'out of season' these days.

Areas like Crieff Cloverleaf and the Kintyre peninsula offer much better experiences these days for the discerning motorcyclist 😀👌

Try the Cloverleaf 👍

Passed through Ullapool getting ferry to Stornaway. Thursday was good so got to see the new promenade in Ullapool, ferry ride was good. Friday on the island was slightly damp. Saturday has been fine so far, and it’s supposed to get wet later. There’s the Midget Fest bike rally on today, altho I’m not getting into that.
Here till next Thursday, haven’t looked at weather forecast beyond today. I hope it’s fine!

Just had a look at the “ PredictWind “ - doesn’t look to bad at all 👍👍

I’m keeping an eye on the weather forecast. Looking for a dry window so I can head north on great roads, with an overnight stop. Ullapool is always on my shortlist. Along with Banff and Tongue.

In September I’ll be stopping in Ullapool with dear wife, on 4 wheels, when we take a ferry to/from Stornoway.

Kyle of Tongue, very nice. Not been there for a few years.
