Of to rainy Scotland 2moro me Sherpa and Boab sharing a family room at the Glenfield spooky 70s throwback hotel. Sounds like a episode of Scooby Doo.
If you are not gannin ya must be as bent as an arabs dagga.
See the rest of you BM bot bandits up there.

I just found this helpful review on the internet:

"Just back from our silver wedding anniversary stay in Ullapool, and appalled at our stay at the Glenfield hotel. Right from the moment we pulled into the carpark we knew it was not going to be what it portrayed on the internet. It is shabby and overgrown, the doors need painting. The reception was a mess, and smelled musty. The room was awful with stained bed linen, curtains hanging off the rails, stains on the walls and scabby old furniture. The mattress was the worst I have ever laid on and I might as well have just settled down onto coiled up wire fencing! the springs were just about through the material. The windows were rotten.

We had advised in advance that we were vegetarians, but struggled to get anything decent for breakfast even though we had paid for full breakfasts. On day 2 the only hot food we could get was toast as, even though breakfast had been on only 30 mins, they had run out of beans!! We noticed that the receptionist was also the waiter and worked in the kitchen. The room service we got consisted only of new coffee cups put on the tray and we wondered, although we didnt see them, if that was the receptionist's job too!

We tried to get other accommodation but everywhere was fully booked up, apart from the Caledonia, but as that is the sister hotel of the Glenfield, we didnt try there.

Please, please dont be fooled by the internet website. Oxford Hotels should be ashamed that they provide such a poor experience. It is a dreadful embarrasment to Scottish tourism, and please do not stay there.
"

Enjoy!

:D

Ullapool one of the most depressing places to work in the world
I was a fish farm manager on the loch and spent 6months (over winter) in the god forsaken place.....
I never once saw the sun.....
Ive never been back ( nor will I )

:(

Ullapool was great when I was there a couple of years ago for G.O.T.C. 2009.

Mind you I stayed in a rather nice B & B

triplet organised a 2 night weekend in Ullapool for 12 of us.

Great weekend:thumb

its just a shame i couldnt organise for us all to get back safely after a great weekend, young lady in car braked severely for no apparrent reason on a7 just s of edinburgh bryan clipped the car and his spinning bike wiped darren out as well, young lady was overjoyed that there was no damage to her car ,when i pointed out the dent in the side she said oh thats off my last accident this is my 3rd one this month!!!!

ULLAPOOL

Had a great weekend, Durness stunning, goat tracks on the way back had a few moments with grass, gravel etc

Edinburgh Scotland tried to assasinate me for the second time in two months

Bike looks to be a rightoff and Darrens ducati supermotard although superficially scraped etc advised could be knackered as well

I have stopped aching now but thumbs bit stiff ok to keep hold of a pint tho.

Pleased to hear you are OK, good trip as well :beerjug:

How many miles did the old girl have on when it shuffled off its immortal coil?

Nowt wrong with the Caledonian.
A bit scruffy but superb value for money.

I paid £19 B&B for an en-suite..... :D
Warm, dry, cleanish rooms. Helpfull staff.

Feck me. It costs £13 to stick yer tent up at Broomfield.

GLORIOUS GLENFIELD

The Hostel as the staff call it was a bit ropey around the edges but room and bedding was clean. The price for 3 sharing a room worked out at £18 each for 2 nights this included continental breakfast. The atmosphere was fantastic after 3 blokes snored and farted the night away. And by the way Bryan I think its the hieght of bad manners to lie awake and listen to me snoring.
The overnight results were Ian gold, Bob silver, Bryan bronze (after 2 of his farts the room was cleared of all insect life)
Also like to mention the staff who treated us as part of the family (Adams family). A special mention to the lady who served breakfast, she could talk a glass eye to sleep.
