Never been before, and thinking about a run over.

Any good?.....What's the official camp site like?.....Pubs etc within walking distance?....:nenau

Very grateful for any advice........:)

My 2 cents...

As I live close to the course, I can't comment on the accommodation. At the risk of offending anyone who lives there, there's bugger all to do in Dundrod. I'd go with some digs or similar in Belfast (especially if you've not been over before), which will give you plenty of options.

The event (well, Saturday anyway) was rained off last year, which is a chance that you take with these things (staying in Belfast would that mitigate the problems if that happens again).

Event wise, I think that it's the best biking event going. A magical track, riders going hammer and tongs with no time-trial to consider; a 130+mph average:eek:; all the top road racing names; I'm a huge fan!

I live 5 miles from the track, you're welcome to a coffee/beer if you're in the vicinity. (I had a BBQ on the same day last year - the wettest day for 70 years or something...)

Patrick.

Many thanks for the info' and the invite.......:thumb2

Definitely going off the camping idea.....:augie

Still not sure If I'm going to go.....not bothered about rain, but I am bothered about rain stopping play.....I would be well pi**ed off they did a 'NW200' on me....

Cheers.......:)

Roll the dice!

If you can get a ferry for a reasonable rate, I'd take a chance. I know it's easy for me to say that, but I'm one of those that went over to the Isle of Man this year for one day - and it was a wash out; all racing canceled!:blast I'd still do the same thing next year, mind!

There's always someone worse off than you, though - one bloke I was speaking to on the IoM had also gone to Qatar this year, and they had 3 years worth of rain on race day!

I'll put the game on the Playstation if it lashes down - that'll be some comfort, and I can maintain my 132mph lap record for another while! (I also hold the IoM record at the moment, dontyaknow...:augie)

Yea, when someone mentions the NW200 I think of happy times and fabulous racing.
When someone mentions the Ulster Grand Prix Dundrod all I can think of is torrential rain and soggy sandwiches:tears

Maybe I've just been unlucky.............:nenau

I think the same of the UGP Phil. In fact, since the year that Klaus Klein was killed in a race that never should have been run, 1987 if memory serves, I have only ever gone back once to Dundrod. And it feckin rained. :(

I live about 20mins away and would prefer to watch the highlights on TV :(

WOW......you Irish guys really know how to sell an event.....NOT !!!!...:eek

Mind you.....I can't say that I haven't been warned.......:D

Well, I can't recommend it enough. yeah it's let me down before, but one good year out of every two keeps me hooked.

That there's racing on the Thursday afternoon aswell means that you should get to see the worlds best Road Racers in close proximity at least one dry day:Motomartin. I heartily recommend you to some along, Jonnie Comet!!:beerjug:

Planning a trip up from the KIngdom - we surely must get a decent August after this miserable excuse for a July

Please....

tell me that those who were thinking of going or were asking to be convinced that they went there today....

It was absolutely awesome. Best day's racing I can remember, and knocks the NW200 into a cocked hat.

Patrick.

Absolutely amazing days racing:clap. Lap records smashed and :Motomartin Sunburn as well (totally unexpected).

Don't miss highlights on Beeb 1 on Thurs night.

No excuses.....I could have gone. I organised the trip, and just had to 'press the buttons'.....:blast:blast:blast

I suppose that I didn't want to go enough......Happening more and more, the older that I get.....

My Mrs calls me a 'bald prat'........Wise eh?......:D
