The sump guard looks hideous, the crud catcher will just store up up all the road salt and hide it from view and will have to be removed each time you clean the bike - the only thing that has some use is the headlamp guard if you do a lot of off roading - you will have to remove it every time you actually want to use the headlight to see where you are going because there is so much metal in front of the light that it will cut the light output by about 20%.

Why people spend a fortune to on ugly impractical stuff is rather confusing to me.

I have found a plastic fabricator near me.

"Can you do me a plastic cover to protect a headlight?"

"yes - we'll use bullet proof E (some long number) plastic - you trace the shape, we'll cut it for you"

"can you tell me roughly how much that'll be?"

"Oooo I don't know ... £20?"

"Thanks very much - I'll come and see you in June .. "

:D

That and some toughened discreet little cm sq velcro tabs in white ... I reckon job done for about £25 :thumb2

I'm not so sure:D

The headlight guard, just folds down for night time use;):augie

The Crud Catcher looks better than the Cymarc one, pressure washer behind it should remove any residual road dirt and the sumpguard.........:nenau

Gotta agree with Engineer - the crud catcher and sump guard both look shite and MH's crud catcher looks like it would do the job mutch better. Mind you, I think all crud catchers (and most other bling) look shite, can't see the point :D

I'm with Giles on the head light protector and that's just what I have on my GS, stuck on with velcro - it's done a grand job for 50,000 miles now (oh, and I think the wire guards, on any bike, look shite too :D).

All IMHO of course...............

I also think that as the LED light does actually look quite sexy () it would be a shame to hide it behind a wire grill ....

That U Shaped light thing?

If so, it looks fecking hideous, like an upturned neon soup bowl:blast

Is that what you're on about?

Bulbs, proper glass ones are real deal:thumb

JB's obviously having second thoughts about getting one, 'cos after three months of bigging them up, he's on the downswing now :blast

Are you hormonal JB?

EDIT.....exhaust manifold nut on first pic....rusty already :blast

I like the way the sump guard covers everything except the most vulnerable part of the engine casing.:blast:rolleyes: Hooton's crud catcher is 100 times better. As these are designed to protect from crud and mainly stone chips, having a big gap defeats the object. :rob

FAIL:comfort:D

IMHO the most important reason for fitting a crud catcher is to prevent stone chips. especially when roads in your part of the world :hide are being resurfaced.

See, if you want to survive in this modern world JB, you have to adapt and embrace change ... ;)

50,000 miles on mine; green lanes, several trips to Maroc, motorway chugging across Europe and of course numerous trips to Tesco............ and not one stone chip :)

Mind you, it is the superior single cam 1200................

asthetically speaking and I qualifying my opinion is 3 years of art college..
crud cather looks,,well to use phrases of an artistic lecturer of mine,,,

Ive seen better looking pigs arses than that thing there...

the light thingy if lowered for night riding.....wouldnt it bounce about like feck??

I like Mr Hoots Crud catchers but think the simple options usually work best,,,,,Pyramid plastic front extender,, as fitted to my 07 model,, miles of shit roads and hardly a blemish,,,

I will wait and see when if they bring one out,, if not Reckon it will be Mr M hoots one..

MHO..:thumb

like the comment, but that lamp does not do it for me. looks like some old 2-bar electric fire or an antique toaster. should have an old granny hunched up in front of it.

wouldn't have either of those metal abominations on any bike of mine either, and i like headlight grilles.

can't find a nice one for my TC. had a lovely flip down wunderlich jobbie on my old bike, but they don't fit the newer (old) bikes.
