What I really want is to keep my Bagster tank cover and use a decent bag with it that sits in the right place and not in my lap.
Well if you want the same, the answer is to take one new 2009 model year BMW tank bag and fit it over the top of your old style 1200GS tank with the Bagster cover in place.
The new tank bag is too big for the 2004-2007 tank, but the addition of the Bagster cover takes up the slack and makes for a dandy fit.
There is a slight modification needed, but there is no cutting or drilling or damagaing either bike, cover, or bag. Just a zip tie or two at the rear of the tank.
