Just been given a pair of michelin ultra heavy duty inner tubes to try out by the nice KTM boys.

The box says 4mm thick.

Any one tried these things before?

They feel very heavy.

Not tried them, but a mate picked one up from the shop on Sat and managed to puncture it Sun!
He was using a Michy X11 trials tyre on a 300 exc at 7psi though, slashed the tyre right through taking the tube with it, DOH

Nope but..

Not tried them.. but when I went to get inner tubes for the DRZ, buckley tyres warned me the thicker ones were hard to puncture when in and correctly fitted but were a B*****d to fit without pinching due to their stiffness. So take care!

I just bought the cheapo ones in the end for the DRZ..

I use them in the Honda. The most difficult part about fitting them is getting the valve through the hole in the rim, once thats done I partly inflate the tube to avoid nipping it.
Mine have been on for ages now, the weird thing is that there appear to be small balls of rubber inside the tube which you can hear rolling around when you lube the chain.:nenau

You need one of these:

They make the job a doddle!

I have them fitted to my KTM, but I was told that they should not be used for road work for long periods of time due to the heat build up. :nenau

Same thing with a tyre fitted with bib-mousse.

once thats done I partly inflate the tube to avoid nipping it.
Once tyre's on I then fully inflate tube to seat the tyre on the rim - then fully deflate the tube (incase not seated evenly) before fully inflating again.

Unless I'm doing it with a hand pump, or using the last gas cannister, in the middle of a timed check, in which case I say "feck it" and ride it anyway.:D
Usually results in half my tools being left in the middle of a forest, needing to stop after the check and tighten the wheel spindle, with the tools I've now lost. The tw*t that I'm trying to beat has sailed past ages ago, and even then I'm only fighting him for a position somewhere in the lower quartile of the results.
Powys Enduro on Sunday, wish me luck :thumb

I swear by Mich UHD tubes, I had a few punctures on standard tubes (pinch and sharp object) but have had nothing since switching to the mich's.
They're quite heavy but not having to change a tube in the ar$e end of nowhere is more important to me than saving a few gramms :thumb
I've Combined them with a Mitos c-o2 rear and Mitos front and can run 12psi at high speed over rocky terrain with confidence (on a 300EXC with a 10.5st passenger on board) :)
