I've been using ultraseal in my Tourances now for two years, and suddenly, after having fitted a new rear tyre about 2 months ago, the tyre keeps loosing pressure at an alarming rate, dropping from 34-36 to 25 within 3 days. Has anyone come across this, any ideas why this might happen? Solutions?

thanks

Martin

Sounds like the tyre isn't fuky seated on the rim. Try completely deflating it applying pressure around the beads on both sides then reinflating again. You will need an airline to get the tyre to seat in all probability so do it at a garage. Could also try a splach of lube around the beads when deflated (I would say washing up liquid but someone here will tell me thta's the wrong thing.)

Failing that you could actually have a puncture - check for signs of Ultraseal leak.....

Puncture ( as mentioned above ) ??
Ultraseal won`t fix EVERY type of puncture.......

Faulty tyre valve ??
Put some liquid soap around the valve with the tyre at high pressure...

Bad bead seal ??
Was all the rim cleaned properly before fitting the replacement tyre ???

I had a similar problem with my last set of tyres. I removed the valve inner and found what looked like a little lastic band around the groove in the valve stem. I really had to look at it to realise it wasn't part of the valve itself.

Must have been a bit of the ultrasnot that had been exposed to air and ' gone off '
Mind I knew I didn't have a puncture because I could hear a tiny bit of air escape whan I removed the valve cover.

Worth a check ??

remove the wheel, pump it up....put it in ya bath of water so you can see where its leaking from. :thumb
