Steve himself says he has only ever come across three punctured tyres with Ultraseal in them and in every case the Ultraseal had failed.

Isn't that because the rest are still riding round with ultraseal repaired tyres and have no need to visit him?

I confess to never even have heard of Ultraseal. I'll go and look it up.

I have a plan anyway. I've long thought about the idea of fitting some kind of removable and repairable internal bladder for tyres. That way a spare could be carried and replaced at the roadside if needed. What do you reckon? I think its got legs myself! This next year I'll be a millyonair

I haven't used it myself, but Carcher had the real stuff in his Tourances on our UK Coastal ride. He got a large crosshead screw through the central tread block of his (very worn) rear Tourance, which we spotted first thing Sat. morning.

We left the screw in place and I rode behind him to keep an eye on it while we did over 150 miles before reaching Buckley Tyres (top place) for our scheduled tyre stop. He had to reinflate once late in the day, but other than that, the tyre stayed up and the Ultraseal certainly saved us a lot of time and arsing around.

I was very impressed having previously been a sceptic. Will certainly use it in my next set of tyres and a touring must have IMO. PB

the problem i got when my rear tyre gave up...after been filled with tyre seal and after covering 15000km with no problems was i could not fix it with the bmw tyre repair kit, so i had to fit a new tyre....it was already on it's last legs though.

now i carry a bottle of the stuff with me purely for emergencies and if i cannot fix with just the tubless kit i can always put the purple shite in too, to get me somewhere with people and life.

by the way i now carry a 'worm' type tubeless repair kit, much better than the BMW one. not too sure if i think the tyreseal is the best solution.

Mate uses it on his ride - on lawnmower, and has never had a problem (normally suffers continually from punctures).

I've had it in mine before - no ill effects, and will put it in my new tyres as soon as I can.

Lots of tyre fitters don't like it, but then they would say that!

Had it in my 1150gsa for 7k and no problems so far and at the same time put it into my audi A2 because you dont get either a spare or room for a spare.last weekend I replaced all 4 tyres on the A2 as I got a puncture in a rear tyre and no sign of the ultraseal I even pushed the nail into the tyre to help the flow,I inflated the tyre and drove off,and still no sign of the stuff.So out came the puncture repair kit from under the the seat of the GS and in no time I was back in the game.
The guy at the tyre place was not impressed with the red stuff and said That stuff is a waste of money !!!
I asked for my tyres back so I could inspect them,on doing so I could not find any signs of a puncture in any tyre 1 tyre had 4 nails in it but non had gone through.
I dont think I will be putting it in again!!
But each to their own.

have it in me divvie 900, only problem is at 115(race track ocifer) it induces a weave, others have noted this also

I put Ultraseal in before trip to Morocco earlier this year. Riding through hills in southern Spain to ferry I noticed my "Death Wings" were slipping quite a bit. Checked tyre pressures at Algeciras and both front and back were a good 10 - 11psi higher than when I set off (set at handbook recommendations for fully laden). Tyres were pretty hot but I wouldn't have expected that much rise in pressure. Two hours later when cooler after ferry crossing pressures were near to normal.

Still wonder if the Ultraseal contributed to the pressure rise.
