I'll be running 4 USA tours next year under the Unchained Tours banner. They are advertised elsewhere with excellent responses and we should have a good mixture of riders and bikes. I have spaces available on all of them and UKgsers will get a special price for the tours so please contact me directly if you are interested.;)

The whole idea of our trips is Your Bike, Your Adventure and we think you'll have the trip of a lifetime. The next time someone says "I bet you haven't been further than Tesco's on that GS" you can confidently reply "Actually.........:D" We are happy to take new riders or new to touring riders on our trips so please don't be put off thinking that these adventures will be too much. They really won't be and we think they are perfect for all types of riders. These aren't Iron Butt trips......

The dates and basic routes are as follows:

Baltimore to San Francisco Coast to Coast: this is a 4 week tour across the US and takes in the Smokie Mtns, Deals Gap, Nashville, Oklahoma, Alberquerque, the Rockies (brilliant roads), Independance Pass at 12,000ft, Aspen, Canyon de Chelley, Monument Valley and Moki Dugway, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite and Sequioa Nat Parks, Monterey and into San Francisco. Depart Baltimore 5th June 2011 arrive SF 1st July 2011.

California loop: this is a 3 week tour starting and finishing in SF and takes in Monterey, Sequioa and Yosemite, Death Valley, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelley, Monument Valley and Moki Dugway, Colorado, Wyoming, Beartooth Pass (11,000ft), Yellowstone National Park, Hells Canyon, Bend Oregon, Pacific Coast Hwy. Depart SF 9th July 2011 arrive SF 30th July 2011.

California Loop: As above but depart SF on 6th August 2011 and arrive SF 27th August 2011.

San Francisco to Baltimore:
4 weeks across the US and the reverse route of the Baltimore SF roure in June. Depart SF 3rd September 2011 and arrive Baltimore 1st October 2011.

The bikes will be containered to and from San Francisco and ro/ro ferry to and from Baltimore. Learning from this years trip, we will be using steel cages for the containers to ensure the safety and security of the bikes en route.

The up front price of the trips includes return shipping, 2 guides (one of them is me you lucky people), route preparation, help with bike preparation, any advice necessary and bike insurance. The rest of the trip you pay as you go i.e food, fuel, motels flights etc etc which gives you a lot of choice on how you want your trip to be. I can give you a fairly close estimate of the costs you can expect for the whole trip.

We only stay in Motels as it's a lot easier and the price difference from camping is minimal and the thought of an airconditioned room and swimming pool at the end of the day is too good to resist. We use mid range privately owned motels where we can and pre book where we can. We also try and avoid chain restaurants and stop regularly for an afternoon milkshake in a diner which shouldn't be missed. You can diet when you get home.

The daily mileage is very sensible on all the trips and it will be rare to do over 250 per day and we also programme in a few rest days in good places. We travel on mostly back roads but do use Interstate's only when there is no option and even these can be nice. There will be no off road sections on these trips.

The roads in the USA are generally in great order with little traffic. Plenty of variety from long straights to the finest twisties you will find anywhere and I can confidently predict you won't get bored!

If you are interested in any of the above Adventures, please let me know and I'll get some more concise details of routes and prices to you.
