There is an undercover R1 ,a white one patrolling the A93 area .According to folk who have spoken to the officer and his accomplice ,who was on there own bike. They were spot on and are passing on info about grave, potholes, drain covers etc and trying to improve the roads for bikes, which seems great. Mind you it would be different if you'd melted passed them the wrong side of 50,eh i mean150:augie

This ties in with the message the Police were putting over at the Bikesafe event I attended a couple of weeks ago at East Kilbride. Very much promoting their Around The Corner website which will have contributions from all Scottish Police Forces. At the moment it is pretty much from Lothian & Borders but there is a lot more to get published. Loads of routes detailing points of interest, fuel stops, dangerous road conditions and speed camera locations. Check it out at http://www.aroundthecorner.org.uk/

There are about 45 Police bikes throughout the Strathclyde Police area and a new guy has taken over. He spoke about the four "E"s in Accident prevention and improvement of traffic safety. They are enforcement, education, engineering, encouragement. He said his predecessor believed the four "E"s were enforcement, enforcement, enforcement and enforcement. He said it was taking a little time for his officers to move away from the old enforcement only approach.

A couple of the local routes for Strathclyde which don't yet appear on the Around the Corner website are attached.

I was over last weekend staying in loch Hearnhead with 13 friends. We all ageree that Scotland is the only place to go biking.
Great roads, great weather, friendly bikers and Friendly Police.
Thanks Scotland for a great weekend.

mental note to not play on the roads on the map....:augie

it's no bad thing was getting tired of stories of bikers hooring into trees at high speed....more that can be done to take the assholes off the road the better

reminds me of a time in London I was just about to take the piss out of another bike, just as well I hesitated for a second, it was a plain clothes police bike....:D

Are we supposed to be impressed by that, asshole.

Thanks very much for the pat on the head.
Is that what you do when you when you're out to "take the piss out of another bike" when you go to "play on the roads" ?
Perhaps you should warn everyone you're a Moderator on UKGSer. That should scare all the "assholes off the road"

.....stop making me laugh, if you weren't so up tight that wasp would get out of your ass....:beerjug:

do we have a Scottish Section on Facebook yet? Seems that that's where were migrating to :flag :D

There is no shortage of examples of poor riding of a Sunday down in the Trossachs. I nearly rammed some git on an R6 who slowed to about 30 to go round an easy corner when I was through there the other day, and I'm no Rossi. Some of the overtaking manoevres would put the shits up any cager too, not good PR that's for sure. Perhaps a little education may be a good thing :hide some people are more skilled than others, no doubt. Better than heavy handed North Wales style policing anyhow.

Fortunately most of those weekend cowboys don't get further north than Tyndrum:augie

Just read your link, think i'll stop goin oot on a sunday:(

Seems though unless your going daft you'll be ok .They are not daft and realise bikes will scoot on a bit but there does have to be a bit of common sense.

How many off duty police motorcyclists do you reckon keep strictly to all limits?

I'd reckon your money would be safe at 1000/1 if you said nil.

Used to sell bikes (Motorcycle City and Wheels International in London, both defunct, not my fault:D) and we used to get loads of Plod in to have a cuppa or even buy bikes, course we chatted and I can tell you the answer to your question is, as you say, nil.

BUT they have their fun with out taking the piss. Noisy pipes (like an R1 needs more squirt), scaring the grockles and upsetting villagers is a no no. Making 'good progress' where it's safe to do so is unlikely to get you into trouble. Seemples!

I say chaps, this is not the sort of thing I want to see before or after the watershed. Has someone got the wrong end of the stick here, or is it just me missing the subtext?
Surely that what PM`s are for ??

I'm heading over to Arran tomorrow on the bike and if they can see my number plate through the rain it will be a better day than the forecast says:augie

May have a nip or two whilst on the Islands, it would be rude not to:thumb
