Bucking the trend here but I think they look crap....

Dave

I'm not going quite so severe,i like the idea and the underseat cans, but feel that things are a bit messy on the exit from the Cat.If the System went 2 into1 into 2 without the cat,it would probably be tidier, depending on how the pipes could be routed past the rear shock area.

looking at the bike that was at Garmisch (Blowzorns Pic)the system seems to have changed a little:-

Just got this email with pics from the underseat exhaust supplier:
New!
Under seat double-pipe exhaust system for BMW R1200 GS and Adventure.
New! Under seat exhaust system is installed parallel under the back seat and the taillight.

Facts & figures:
The new Fallert-Sport-System consists of a connector tube and two single mufflers which are specially adjusted to the space conditions.
The system comes with an EG operating licence and has not to be enlisted into the car documents.
We have developed a combined taillight-support made of stainless steel, on which the rubber-supported exhaust bracket is fixed too, to be able to install the exhaust system parallel below the back seat and the taillight; the position of the taillight and the turn lights is conserved.
The licence-plate bracket which is included in the delivery (stainless
steel) is also installed rubber-supported below the exhaust system (similar to R1100 S).
The system is easy to install. There is only some extra work for
changing the combined taillight-support.
The system is completely made of stainless steel, the absorber tubes are
filled with stainless steel-wool. The mufflers are filled with
heat-resistant mineral wool to guarantee a good sound absorption and a
high durability.
The heat emission to the top is avoided by a carbon-compound shell.
The system can be delivered in polished stainless steel and
alternatively in shot-peened matt-finished stainless steel.
Advantages of the under seat exhaust system:
* strong boxer-sound
* increase of torque and power in the lower and the middle rpm-range
* feasibility to use two identical bags, the original bags can also
be used (a modification to have the left BMW-bag symmetrically to
right is in preparation)
* notedly sportive optics

price included all brackets: 1059.-- € + 19% VAT à 1260.-- €

I think this setup looks frikking awesome.

Numpty question time. Is it possible to remove the cat with this setup at the same time? What bit would you use in place of the cat?

Looks nice. You could also cook food in your top-box during the journey, or provide amusement for all by setting fire to any luggage you have attached to the rear rack (noticeably absent from this pic):D

From the specs:

"The heat emission to the top is avoided by a carbon-compound shell."

Is this the first underseat system? I believe that the VFR also has one, and that it is designated as a sports tourer....any problems with luggage setting on fire? No. I think there are others too. So, the post is total bollocks.

Its gobshyte!

The 'rear end' looks 'ok' the rest looks gobshyte !

Why try and make an already ugly R12 look like a cut 'n' shut Jap bike? - might as well go the whole way and make a black Hammerite painted Rat bike.

And why not? Isn't that the point of accessorising and adapting? To make it personal? Why add any exhaust, when they only make a little difference? Most accessories are for personal taste reasons, not for genuine beneficial purposes, although a lot of people persuade themselves they are necessary. How many people buy an adventure that only ever sees the same roads as the rest of us? Because of the looks.

The above pics are totally different .
Do Fallert make 2 different systems for the GS then ?

And nearly £900 is crazy for a slip on made of bloody steel !!!!!

I think the price is for the whole system, although I could be typically wrong. The second system was developed after feedback from the first....not many liked the widely spaced end cans.

Exactly!

Sorry, what "exactly"? The rear end looks ok? The rest of the bike is gobshite? Why make it look like a jap cut'n'shut bike? Hammerite it? What exactly?

Look where it exits, idiot. Just underneath where any rear rack luggage would be. So unless they also supply a "carbon fibre heat resistant tea tray" to go under the rack then you'll get hot exhaust gasses frying things. Unless it's maybe got a "carbon fibre exhaust gas cooling device".:rocketwho:

And I'd like to see a rear rack fitted to this

It exits at least 8" below where any rack would be, unless of course there's a rack that sits below the rear light, and unless I missed the physics class that spoke about this, exhaust gases tend to emit outward, not upward. It's pretty obvious that heat will not be an issue.

Just re-read my posts on this thread. Must've been having a bad time to be so rude. Apologies to those I poked....., no, not with that.....with a sharp stick, a sharp stick.

Anyone heard more about these underseats?
