Unlock code from coupon

Hi, I have a boxed streetpilot iii which didnt have a yellow coupon for an 8 digit unlock code. Without which the kit is totally unusable.

Ive not received a answer from their tech support. Has anyone experienced the same problem and have they had any luck with garmin?
 
Grey...or is it gray?

I'm only guessing, but is Dartford by any chance fairly close to Tottenham Court road?

(Greyish imports from that manor occasionally have such easily missed items accidentally removed , or even kept back and sold, probably also accidentally, but to someone else.)

Though, I should hasten to add, there are plenty of very diligent and scrupulously honest traders giving a very good service from that address, as well.

Its a right royal PITA when you buy a new toy and it does not work straight away. I don't have a coupon with my GPS due to its type. But I imagine that you could get the unlock code by login into the garmin site and registering yourself. But I might be talking total bollox. Good luck with it and if it does not work soon RING them...

My Garmin GPS battery cover broke for absolutly no reason that I could see, they sent me one by post immediatly...

Geezer, I purchased a second hand SP III and contacted Garmin Tech Support for an unlock code. They asked me to provide my personal details and serial number of the SP III and after I supplied these details they responded within 24 hours with an unlock code and have registered the unit in my name. All in all they were very responsive. Why not send them another email asking them if there is a problem.

I E-mailed there tech support 2 days ago but as yet I have had no reply, I also rang them on four occations yesterday & I got through to there automated anwer service who passed me on to extentions that just rang & rang, I'll try again today, must admit I wish I never bought the heap of SH*T at the moment,

Phone them again.

I purchased a new SPIII this year, but it had been out and had been a 30day return to Staples.

Phoned Garmin, whilst trying it out in the car (Dirty Word, sorry) outside the shop, and they were very helpful, told me it hadn't been registered, and guided me through all the details, the sales team are excellent. 01794 519 944

Once you get used to it, it's an excellent piece of kit, and the 2610 is even better, if you can afford it.

If we all read the manual, life would be so much easier, but boring!!!.
 
Update

Right lads I have an update, RE- my unlock codes etc etc,
I recieved an e-mail back from Garmin who gave me some insructions, but to carry them out I need to open mapsourse, I could not get my Mapsource ikon on my desktop or in my programe files, so could not start to sort out the problems,
So back to the phone after a long wait for the call to be anwered I got through to a very helpfull chap who went through the registering process & came to the same point I have been in ,that the system will not fully install ! so we went to the Garmin support site & downloaded the new Version 6.1 of mapsource, with this fully loaded I was able to register & open the mapsourse & hopefully I'll be rock & rollin soon , By the way he could not explain my problem " a software Gremlin". :rolleyes: :D :D :D :confused:
