I've had broadband for about 18 months and until recently all has been well.
In the last week or so I get 'unable to find server' on either google (home page), ukgser, or even email.
Have tried with both pc & laptop - no difference, and have reset 'D-Link' adsl several times.
My broadband provider (small local company) tells me he'll have to check with BT & server but this will take a few days - meanwhile my business will just have to suffer.
Does his response seem reasonable or am I being conned?
At the moment the fault just appears / fixes itself at random without any action from me.
Any techies who can help (hopefully i will stay connected long enough to hear your response - fingers crossed!
Cheers
Steve

Could be several different things.

Things to try while working

Ping 216.239.57.103
If there are results then you've not got ICMP blocked and that'll be useful.

When it goes down
Ping that address again and see if you get results (if you did last time)
Enter that IP address into your browser and see if anything comes up. If it does then the problem points to your ISP's DNS server. If the ping times out but didn't before then the problem probably lies with your ADSL connection. Try also pinning your DNS server (IPCONFIG /ALL should reveal that), if you can ping your DNS but not other stuff then the problem lies with your ISP.

That's your starter for 10 anyway. Other things that would help:-

What ISP
What type of hardware connection (Frog modem thing, router?)
Make and Model of above

I know BT have been having problems with their servers in the last week. If this is where your service ultimately comes from, this may be the problem.

Thanks Guys,
Couln't reply for the obvious reason but now (hopefully) sorted as a result of 'pinging' which has taken on a whole new meaning for me!
Cheers
