Updated GS/GSA for late 2017

Nutty, I am looking at going Orange.....so name and praise your dealer if you wouldn't mind.

Cheers

My bro has got an Orange bike lurking in his garage, he bought it new from Teasdales in Thirsk, but he never rides it, always takes his GSA. He'd be happy to flog it, I think that it would be the right money.

It's a 2016 1290 GT Super Duke...apparently it's very very quick!

I'm sure that it has less than a 1000 miles on the clock, probably only ridden 5 or 6 times!

He may want to leave it in his garage when he finds out how much it's worth now 2018 GT looks like it's going to be very impressive.

I doubt if he'll be very bothered either way, it just sits there looking fast....... and orange!

He really is missing out on a great bike.

I've got to agree with you Ding Dong, I've just be having a really good look at it, and it does look the Dogs Bollards. I'm gonna have to get a ride it before he lets it go. He says it's about 173 Brake ...surely not?

I'll give him £7k for it.:thumb:D

The new dash does not have a GPS built in. It only "reads" the navigation info from your smartphone.

If you read the official description ( see my previous post ) it will become clearer

Yes there's a youtube showing turn pointers and BMW will not venture into the GPS programming/mapping arena which is already conquered by Garmin, so it'll be a symbiotic development requiring minimum phone mapping, but more probably input from Nav 6 or Nav 7 .

Though I thought that the BMW presentation on this was pretty poor, what I understood from it was that the display taps into some standard way of outputting turn instructions from a smartphone and has used that to display the arrows. I don't think there is any input required from a Garmin device to drive the TFT navigation display at the moment, and personally I think that is unlikely in the future so long as Garmin are providing Nav devices to BMW which are essentially rebadged standard Garmin devices, albeit with some extra firmware to display bike information and respond to multi-controller inputs.

I suppose it is possible at some future point that Garmin would develop a GPS black box with no display which would be given a window space on the TFT to display its output, but I think that would need a bigger screen to display mapping while still allowing room for essential information like speedo, rpm, etc. The good thing about the simple arrow display is that it can be fitted in relatively easily.

Prices to go up as off August 1st this year.

Meanwhile, they're trying to knock out as many as the non-tft options GS's as they can: apr dropped by 2% and panniers now thrown in.

That's because come August, no decker will want a bike that is now "out dated" no hill hold brakes, next gen ESA. August 1st will see new orders put in and old stuff will get sold of at knock down prices. My March 17' plate GSA will be with me till at least March '19.

The pannier offer is for the GS, not the GSA.

When will we see the first bikes in the showroom? I'm leaning towards a GSA Rallye with all the 'bells and whistles' :)

Hi

No but as I was only into a PCP deal 10 months its complicated, however got the finance at 5.9 apr before the rise which I believe is now 7.9 apr ( or will be shortly). I guess it depends on your circumstances and the deal you hammer out. all deals vary. I got the standard GS in Sept 2016 at 3.9 apr, which will not be available in near future I'm guessing . May be wrong but its a judgement call when you jump in, I guess. Hang on till winter you may get a better deal that at present.

Above all , I suppose it depends on how much you want the shiny new ( red one now shiny) GSA.

Cheers
