Updated GS/GSA for late 2017

R1200 GS Adventure Rallye is a bit of a mouthful..... the colour really doesn't look great, the GS Rallye looks much better. Still saves me even thinking about a new GSA for a while yet :D

How the fek am I gonna get the whole bike into my study to do a GPS update though ? :blast

Cue the folk on here saying that the Nav is too big & the speedo display is too small, and vice versa :D

There is one thing though, that with the navigator having the only one source of information at a time (i.e. nav or engine parameters, music etc) and with being higher up, it doesn't require you to take your attention off the road so much?

Now that's a shit reply arsey and you know it . Nearly as not funny as my headline . A bit "odd" too !!

I fear you are confusing me with someone who gives a shit.
You remind me of my ex wife........Miss Right....first name....Always
As Big Si pointed out on your hilarious death crash thread, you always have to get the last word in,even when you dig a deeper hole and make yourself look even more ridiculous. So go ahead and reply but I won't be entering into a 2 way conversation with you as I have better things to do.

Oh the irony !!

Oh the contradiction

Oh the hypocrisy.

It looks nice, but not nice enough to want an upgrade from my Nav VI.

I'm already very happy with the Colour Information on NAV VI.

I never use the standard dashboard now. But its an excellent backup should my Nav Screen fail.

I wonder if you can now use the BMW App (like the cars) for vehicle data on your phone, petrol levels, tyre pressures etc?

so is that new display having the nav info on it as well? i like the new tft dash but prefer the nav v1 where it is now

It says 'Optional equipment' but doesn't make it clear if all bikes get TFT but just different versions or if you don't buy it you get the old version??

Looking at the images accompanying the press release, it looks like the TFT is an option rather than standard. Photo 16 shows bike with regular clocks and photo 17 same bike with the TFT.

This isn't news. I told you all about the Bosch TFT dash, and GSA updates months ago.:rob;)

That's because Nutty spent a day...........

The new dash does not have a GPS built in. It only "reads" the navigation info from your smartphone.

If you read the official description ( see my previous post ) it will become clearer

If you check the pictures, it shows the "facelifts" with the standard analogue / digital setup, and some with the TFT, it mentions a connectivity app to, but doesn't really say much about it.

These few paragraphs shed a bit more light on it, separate Navigator still recommended.

Using the phone and listening to music in comfort while riding. If the rider for example connects a smartphone and a helmet equipped with BMW Motorrad communication system using the TFT display, he can easily access the media playback and phone functions. These phone and media functions can be used without having to install an app. If a Bluetooth connection has been established with any standard smartphone, the rider can enjoy listening to music while riding. Of course the rider can also jump back and forwards in his music collection. The rider can see all his smartphone contacts in the TFT display and can select and call contacts using the multi-controller. If there is an incoming call while on the road, the rider can quickly take or reject the call with a single tip of the controller.

BMW Motorrad Connected App with practice-oriented arrow navigation and numerous additional functions. The free BMW Motorrad Connected App is a world first for motorcycles offering everyday-suitable and practice-oriented arrow navigation directly via the TFT display. Both the navigation itself and the ability to access the app functions directly on the motorcycle represent a real stand-alone feature. The BMW Motorrad Connected App also offers further features such as recording your ridden routes or displaying ride statistics and information.

The arrow navigation in the form of turn-by-turn arrow directions directly in the TFT display and provides very precise turn indications including lane guiding. Last destinations or points of interest can also be called up directly using the TFT display. This basic navigation is especially interesting for motorcyclists who want to handle everyday riding or short trips comfortably without having to take any additional equipment along.

For touring riders with higher demands, the BMW Motorrad Navigator is still recommended since it provides specifically optimised navigation for motorcyclists and features the respective planning and routing functions. The Navigator is also operated using the multi-controller. The operating focus can be simply transferred from the TFT display to the Navigator.
