Out of curiosity, how does yours compare to my examples?

Out and about at mo, and couldn't view your links, I'll post my start up tonight.
However .... :) ... I am in love with this bike. It's a filthy day, the roads are just covered in crap, and I'm having a ball out on the bike doing a few just jobs. It is just brilliant down the lanes. Despite the sort of niggles like the starter motor, I wouldn't swap it for anything. And that is (to me) the difference between this and my LC GS - it too had niggles, but the bike wasn't 'too good' to persevere and sort out ...

Got mine back from the dealer today. They have apparently loaded the latest engine mapping, and tested the bike for cold & hot starting and all appears OK as far as they are concerned. They also told me to phone immediately if I have the problem again. Not very re-assuring, but I will have to wait for the next cold morning to see what happens.
On the way home, I thought the exhaust seemed to be popping more on overrun that it did previously (I have a Wings shorty), presumably due to the new mapping?

there's a post on ADV rider from a guy who just received updated map, and he's very pleased with the improvement when starting.

There was a map update alongside the new starter motor on my bike, but no reference to correcting or improving starting issues was made though (doesn't mean there aren't though). I think comments were made regarding low to mid range torque and smoothness improvements... :nenau

Mine has never failed to start, tho' it does labour a bit at times. I'll have a chat with the KTM guys at my dealership and see what they say.

So this was mine this morning

The only reservation I have in pointing the finger of blame at starter motors or batteries, is that I'd parked it up a week or so before (centre stand) with the fuel light on. But once it fired up, I rode another 15 miles or so before filling up. Is that an engine hunting for fuel that it can't find 'cos it's (now) parked on the side stand? I can't believe that's the issue ..

Dealer very good though and I get the sense that they're really keen to do whatever they can. :thumb2

Aha ... stand by ... :D

..... Sorted .. Ta ..

Blimey, mine's never done that - mind you it's in a warm garage so maybe I need to leave it outside when the weather turns cold again and see what happens?

On a separate note I've been trying to find out if mines due any remedial work via the KTM website but need a delivery certificate' number - guess who's not got a delivery certificate :blast

Oh, and Giles, you do realise don't you, that your vid runs into your entire catalogue of home vids? Loving the one with you, Mellors, Robin and the Russian guy! Well, I'm assuming he's Russian as it was a bit hard to hear what he was saying with a gag in.............

:D

Russian guy ?? You've lost me there ...

(phew ... no dodgy vids on there .... :P)

I spoke to my dealer about this yesterday and expressed my concerns. I told him that although mine hasn't 'not started' it's come close to not starting. I told him that I know of one dealership that's done a warranty claim and has fitted a 1290 starter motor. He told me that he had three other customers that were having problems starting their bikes and that he would phone Ktm this morning ...

Out of the frying pan, into the fire!:D

I think mine was tucked away inside one of the booklets in the big folder thing.

Looked at the video posted above and that's not acceptable starting. Laboured would be an understatement
