Is there an existing thread on changing 1150 rs to gs? - or do I need to start one?

Background:

I have a 04 1150 rs that I really like - for its lower handle bar/sporting road feel. It has about 60K...

I also like ADV riding, and have dirt bikes for aggressive ADV riding.

So I am upgrading my RS* to be more ADV savy for light weight ADV riding - but still retain a sport touring feel

I have learned a 04 1150 rs w/60K is not worth much to sell. So I don't have much to loose.

Thanks.

Yeah I did this with 2 bikes

One my own and one a customers

I used 3 inch risers affixed to the top yoke from below with a standard set of GS bars fitted on top

I will try and find a photo or two

NOTE You will not improve lock to lock and liable to fall off on your arse when turning very tightly

Edit Version on Wider Flatter lower Silver bars

Version two Gold Renthal bars and a trimmed down K100RT /LT Screen

WOW "am I glad I met you".

So some info and questions

A) That confirms how I will do the handlebars - however I will be going with a lower narrower handlebar - that I will loosen and swing up for extended standing up - and swing down for normal travel. I really dont trust the stock fleximount. When trying to lift the bike after it falls, it freeks me, and people helping me, out!

Q: How did you handle extending the wiring and hoses?

B) Are those a stock crashbar?

Note I was just going to start bending/welding up custom crash bars today

C) Is the lock to lock particularly small on the RS? I thought it was just me!

D) Shocks. I did replace the front shock, because it was knocking, with a GS length YSS. And yes it sits higher and I had to rework the length of kick and center stands. I don't notice the ride height change. (The folks at Ted's BeemerShop confirmed the lenght was 1 inch longer, and it would fit, but did not endorse the change)

As to the rear, should I complete the work - replace it with a GS length rear and pushing the back up 1 inch? Or will I have flown to close to the sun?

E) Pegs. I did swap out my RS high foot peg holder with the lower-forward GS model. No issues with this work.

Thanks so much!

Andrew.
