Ive just fitted my starcom1 (the lrg original type) that was fitted to my zzr1200 to my 09 gs and am having a spot of bother. When it was fitted to my zzr1200 there was only a small amount of background interference noise (an ignition wine sound)that got louder as speed increased but was quiet enough not to be a problem. But after fitting it to my gs theres far more interference and subsiquenly more noise. The cables to my satnav , headphone socket and audiojack extension are routed to the starcom1 down the left side of the bike , could the fuel pump be giving me this interference ? Would upgrading to the starcom 1 digital reduce or eliminate this problem and will all my original headset plugs etc fit this unit or given its size does it use a smaller style connections.
Any help would be helpful

Hi Gazzauk,
I conected my Starcom to my GS via the canbus wiring and suffered from interference, I rang Starcom and they impressed on me that the unit must be wired directly to the battery via an inline fuse.
I did as they said and all the interference disapeared.
Hope this helps

I have the starcom digital and i've wired it direct to the battery, no interference but my cables run up the right side (as youre sat on the bike) I have it set up with my iphone, zumo 660 and it works a treat, def a huge leap forward from the starcom 1. as far as i know all the accessories and headsets are interchangeable, hope this helps, james :thumb2

Thanks for the info lads , ive already got the unit wired directly to the battery but will re run the rest of the wiring on the right hand side , if this doesnt improve things ill give starcom a ring for a possible fix . If i get no joy ill bite the bullet and go for the digital.
