there is a sticky somewhere, some bod made a one with a paperclip on here, made a good job if i remember, you will have to have a look for it.:thumb

Cheers bud. I have managed to fashion on from some piano wire while waiting for a reply. It will do for now but I would like to get the proper thing if I can.
Thanks again, Stu

busted mine last month in France when changing the dipped bulb.... guys on here suggested a wedge of bog roll.... worked a treat and still is....:nenau

AFAIK you need to replace the entire light fitting if you want it back to 100% but could be talking total arse:confused:

for god sake someone on here must have a knacked headlamp you could buy for next to nowt ,have i just read a thread regarding a stone through a new gs headlamp that would do you,put an add in the wanted section,WANTED A KNACKED HEADLAMP .:thumb2

I have a clip from a K75 which may work. If not a small bit of bodgery should make it fit. PM me if you want it.

A massive thumbs up :thumb2 to Mark (seahorse), he has sent me one of the clips that I posted about. He posted it free of charge (despite me offering), he didn’t accept anything. Very generous of you Mark, thank you.:beerjug:

Stu.

Sorry for the very late reply. Yes it did work mate. The plastic the headlights ate made of are very brittle so I have made some wire clips to prevent the bulb retaining clip falling out in the future. Touch wood all's good now :-)

Sorry for late later response. I couldn't refit the spring with cold fingers and eventually lost it. I put a piece of sponge between the bulb socket and the lid.
One interesting improvement is that the bulb used to shatter to bits every 4 months or so. With the sponge I had the same bulb for 3 years now. Possibly the spring wasn't tight enough.

Some may warn against the sponge as it reduces air flow around the bulb socket. So far there is no miscouloring that may indicate such a problem.

I love this post so many different views, if you feel that you need a spare go to your local car breakers as there's loads of cats with the same spring clip.

when I had my GSA in 2009 Brand New I had the problem, took it back to Dealer and requested replacement under warranty.I was told it wasnt covered and I'd need a whole new Headlight unit !!!
Feckin amazed, over £500 if I remember rightly ! Anyway I argued the toss and eventually got it fixed under warranty. :thumb

I find it hard to believe that a flimsy piece of metal such as this can cause so much trouble and on such a bloody expensive Bike.:eek:eek:eek
