URGENT HELP anyone gone 1200GSA to 1200 SE?

I am such a Tart I fancy a 1200SE in white!! Seen one but has anyone gone from a GSA to an SE? I used to travel regularly to Portmouth for work but now am Brighton Based and the old GSA is too big in gridlocked Brighton and the SE seems leaner and more user friendly .I am not going round the world on it (yet) ( I do most of my tours in India) But I really like the look and feel of the SE So ............................Anyone done GSA to SE ? Do you miss the GSA or have you found enlightenment?:nenau
 
Why don't you get your panels painted white and buy a dark screen

Humvee did it and it looks great :thumb2

Iwent from 1200 to GSA wished I'd have kept it that way my mate has just bought the new SE in white lovely pce of kit if I could afford one I'd go back meself. I think the std 1200 is a better bike for the roads commute. I find the gsa is great bike height spoils it for me and the tank when full makes the old gal a bit top heavy.:thumb

Had an ADV and have a SE have to say if you don't need the large tank the SE in my eyes is a better bike just more fun to ride. But that does not stop me lusting after an ADV, but do I miss my old one ? no I don't.

I was thinking of next years ADV, but at the moment i'm not sure it's worth the money to change.

What is the differance, apart from cosmetics, between a GS and an SE ?

I changed 5 months ago from an 08GS ( and put just about every extra on it) to an 09GSA, for me the GSA is a far better bike, even it town, would i swap my 5 month old GSA for a brand spanking new SE, no chance.

If your not travelling far and think the GSA is too big, then buy an additional bike, ive just got an 05 KLE500 to commute and have a larf on £1700, im sure to trade will cost a lot more than that.

Just my two penneth of course :D

Unless your dealer has a registered SE that they have paid for,you will struggle to get an SE.
BMW are not building anymore and there are none left on general availability to the dealers.

Keep the GSA and with the buckaroos that you would use to upgrade buy something second hand that is mental and fun:cool:

Mate, what are you on about?

The only real increase in width between GS and GSA are the handlebars, and that doesnt affect filtering at all. The fuel tank width doesn't have any real effect and does not affect filtering, and if the weight of the fuel bothers you then dont fill it up all the way.

If you think Brighton is gridlocked, you should try centre of London on a daily basis on a GSA - its no problem. The only issues are your the head.

Sounds like a lame justification for a new bike to me. If you want a new bike, just buy it, but don't kid yourself by trying to justify with this argument. LoL.
 
It's the old argument, GS and GSA, going round the world buy a GSA, everyday riding the GS is better. No one with a GSA is going to admit there bike isn't as good on the road, they're to busy justifying the extra cost of the GSA :augie

It's just different. I've had both. I prefer the GSA. Each to their own. :)

Each to their own; make do with what you have. Its expensive to change; some people use the flimsiest of logic in an attempt to convince themselves. I just don't buy the fact that Brighton traffic (or indeed London) is so bad that a GS is significantly easier that a GSA. Now if you were thinking of chopping the 1200 in for a 600 citing traffic and parking, then that argument stands to reason.

You seem to be the only rider trying to justify the gs is better than the gsa. I would stay with the gs if you riding skills are not good enough to handle a real bike.:comfort
 
Had another sit on the SE yesterday and it seems easier to handle and a lot lighter .The wt saving is in the engine bars and yes the fuel tank.Riding position is good slightley lower than the GSA but taller than the standard GS .I use a T Max for most of my commuting ,but used the GSA today.Typically there was no traffic on the way in so it was easy.Mabe it is in my head ,Ive had 4 GSA's and never untill recentley thought anything about usability ,mabe the SE will suit my current needs ,plus it is a very very good deal .decisions decisions:confused:
 
Its all in your head mate.

If weight really does bother you, don't fill the tank all the way up; pretend its only got a 20 litre GS tank as opposed to the 33 litre GSA tank. Maybe take the crash bars off? All cheaper than changing. Unless you have money to burn.

Dont think it's in your head - the GSA is 20+ kgs heavier (without any fuel) carriers the weight higher because of longer suspension and therefore is more top-heavy - a fact, right ?
