Try cleaning the plug socket. Under the front of the fuel tank, middle row of plugs.

No need to remove the tank, just pull it back so you can get to the plugs/sockets.

Only vaguely related problem to this was when my fuel indicator gauge started geting erratic on my 03 1150 This was cure by removing the black plastic panel on the R/H side, under the fuel tank. Then a large electrical terminal block can be seen, I disconnected this, sprayed both sides with WD40, (actually 2nd time was with ACF50, not repeated since) Put connector back together & apart a few times, then the fuel gauge readout was accurate.
Maybe (if you're lucky) the other problems you have are routed through the same block?

Good luck.

Faulty Display

Sorry...The mod was having a HID unit fitted to the dipped headlight..This works fine (Very Impressed) But obviously upset something on the bike (a 52 plate 1150gs adv)
Hope this helps ..thanks for the advise will try the idea's tomorrow in the morning ..Many thanks to all..JOHNO:rob

small niggel from diane

you should have gone in the car

from diane

My RID locks up now and again after fitting a HID. It's obviously the high voltage needed to strike up the bulb knocking out the RID. Just pull the fuse, wait a few seconds and everything will work again :thumb

I've hear of this previously if you've fitted the ballast in the headlamp housing.

I have main and dip fitted ('53 1150GS)with the ballasts under the front of the tank one each side of the headstock, no probs at all.

Mines under the tank. It must be the bulb striking up that does it.

back home

Back home now and had good look & cleaned all connectors, checked all fuses and all ok but still got problem "no gear/oil/fuel indicator" can it be the small circuit board has had it & can it be tested? any other suggestions greatly received:thumb2

me also..

have the 50w slim ballasts which have an extra box in the wiring. When this went near the RID the display went awol. Happened twice while fitting the unit. No problen since.

I have had this problem. The loom from under the tank to the clocks contains many spliced joints. Water gets in and corrodes the joints and they fail. Take them all apart and remake the joints using heat shrink wrapping and plenty of tape to seal them after the repair.
