US 276c vs EU 276c?

Anyone got experience with a US 276c? I know they're exactly the same units apart from the base map, but it seems I can save all of the VAT hassles and save about 90 quid by buying one in the US (and I will be there next week).

I guess what I'm trying to work out is that presumably, the US base map issue isn't a problem as long as you have EU maps on the data card?

As far as I am aware the only difference is the basemap.

You might also want to price a 256 MB data card in the US.

Yeah, already done that. GPSCity has them for 135 bucks which works out to be about 70 quid for me. God bless the weak US dollar

Can you buy City Select Europe in Europe ?

Did you buy it in the US or have it sent to you, I just wondered if customs got you with import duties?

Haven't bought it yet, but when I do it's under the personal allowance for purchases so there's no duty to pay.

Unless of course I buy a load of other stuff...

do a search under mr tickle - he bought a US one over a year ago and never had a problem - even finds cart tracks - what more do you need ?

My North American 2610 has performed perfectly for me. I'm using a 2Gb flash memory card loaded with City Navigator Europe V6 and Worldmap V3. When I purchased my 2610 from the U.S ( in October 2003 ) I saved over £ 700.00 by doing so.

Although the 276c is cheaper in the States, I would have reservations about purchasing a North American 276c. This is because to use the auto-routing function, you will need to load City Navigator ( or City Select ) and also Worldmap onto its' data card. As the 276c has a maximum memory size of only 256Mb, this could potentially leave you with a mapping problem. If I had to choose between a North American or European 276c and the price difference was £ 90.00, I would go for the one with a European base map.
