I have an Archos 1 Vision 4GB MP3 player - when connected to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, it shows in Device Manager under Disk Drives as a USB Device but not in Explorer (so I cannot drag/drop files to it).

Have uninstalled Driver, Updated Driver, Googled for ages but no ideas.

All suggestions gratefully received (as long as they are clean!)

Try right click on computer (on start bar)
Manage
Storage - Disk Management
See if it is listed on bottom of screen
If so Right Click and give it an unused Drive letter

Thanks

Getalife, but the disk is visible and online but with no Letter. Trying to assign one the operation fails with the message -

The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up to date (etc.)

Tried Refresh, tried Restart Disk Mgt and tried PC Restart; still the same.

Stumped again.

Sometimes have problem with USB ports getting confused. Option is progam called USBDView (google it) which can remove old drivers and then you can try again, or even try a different USB port, but as you say the drive is seen, so maybe red herring.
I'll have a word with IT lad at work on Tuesday, as Bank Holiday Monday/ tomorrow/today/yesterday - sorry get confused with Aussie time - (niece in Hornsby NSW)

Thanks again

Dave - if your IT guys can help it would be great.

I've tried using DISKPART in CMD line to assign a path, but the volume is not visible.

This is how the Disk shows (as Disk 1 = 3.8GB) in Disk Management
