USB port won't work on phone

As the ports work with other devices I figure this is a phone issue or a combination of phone/port. It's actually a non issue as I've never had the need to charge my phone while riding and I find the tank compartment very awkward to use anyway. The powerlet outlet on the side of the inst. cluster will do just fine if I need to plug in the Sena on long rides.
Thanks for all the interesting suggestions though lads and lasses

Could be tripping the canbus overload protection ‘fuse’ if it’s drawing more than 2 amps.

Ignition on, plug the phone in, see that it’s not charging, leave the ignition on and then plug something else ( with a low current draw) into the usb.
If it also doesn’t charge then switch off the ignition to reset the canbus and see if the second device now charges. If it does you’ll know your Samsung has tripped the canbus.
I will try this though

Does your phone support wireless charging? Hornig do a wireless charging pad that sits in the little cubby hole and keeps my iPhone 15 Pro Max topped up perfectly. It's not expensive either.

I remember you’d mentioned this so I had a look and decided to order one, they’re at 26.90 euros at the moment so definitely good value + postage (which is expensive)

Just fitted it, what a great bit of kit :thumb2

Thanks for the heads up!

I've never felt the need for a charger on a bike even on a trip, charge it overnight in the hotel lasts all day .
Handy if you're camping I guess.

If I've not been using my phone for satnav then I've not bothered either.

Using CarPlay doesn't typically for me cause enough drain to warrant charging on the go, with the exception of MyRouteApp which has suffered serious battery drain issues before, although to be fair I think they are fixed now.

Alot of people seem to say their iPhones discharge really badly when using wireless CarPlay but it's not something I've personally seen (generally speaking) across multiple devices.

I did end up getting the Optimate 105 powerlet usb. I've actually never needed to charge my phone while riding on tour, only once when I forgot to charge overnight. I have needed to run with the Sena plugged in after a long day of back and forth gabbing.
