You misunderstand me, if you are powering a satnav you need 5v and the correct 'end' to plug in your sat nav - usually USB mini or USB micro - using a lead to reduce the voltage means you don't need to USB socket to do it and reducing and removing the necessity for a virtually impossible task of waterproofing a socket that's designed as an open connection

I see, the flexibility to charge the phone would be nice though... Though that's what power banks do nowadays i guess

I had something similar but it had an on off switch.. Which bothered me as it was lit.. Ideally a non switched affair with no lights on it is perfect

Hi you can buy the opimate Usb that you can charge sat nav phones etc this will also monitor battery power so if you are charging overnight it won't let your battery drop below 12.3 volts I've fitted mine in my top box. For Sat nav buy the lead from nippy Norman's and use the BMW connector buy the headlight

Check out Windingroads.co.uk, they have multiple options. I bought a cable that plugged in under seat on my TC & ran it to the screen rail, it had grommets which kept the connections waterproof when plugged in.

Thanks all much appreciated

You should have power lead already fitted up by the headstock for the sat nav.
