Anyone come across this:-

- A Canon Pixma iP4200, previously working fine on a Vista machine.

- Stops working for no apparent reason, Constantly believes it is offline.

- reinstalled drivers, rolled back PC to known good restore point, Device manager shows USB hubs all ok............

Dunno what to try next?!!?

Are you using the drivers in Vista? If you are, try looking on the Canon site for updated drivers and use those instead.

Yep, tried updating the drivers. Its weird cos in control panel it sees the printer and lets you set it as default, but wont print a test page cos its offline still :(

Try disabling SNMP

Right-click on the printer and choose Printer Properties. Select the "Ports" tab. Select the correct port, and then Configure Port. Try disabling SNMP and then restart your PC.

Hm, which one is the correct port I wonder. I have a choice of LPT, COM or serial ports - but its using a USB connection, which don't show as separate ports.............?

I've also just noticed that the USB root hub says I have a USB mass storage device connected, but I dont and am wondering if somehow the PC thinks the printer is a mass storage device instead??
