bought one of these last night, all seems straight forward but there are a lot of 'extras' in the operating system.

any interesting tips or recomendations ?

just going to use it to copy about 100 records to PC/ipod, then its back on e bay.:thumb

A friend did this recently and got some clever software to take out all the crackles and scratches from the recordings. Buggered if I can remember what it's called though.

As above, but make sure all the records are spotlessly clean before copying..
What make you go for ?? I've got an "ION" one and it's bloody fantastic :thumb2

If you want to play back song by song on the ipod, you will need to record song by song, rather than album side by side.

The Ion software has noise reduction if I remember correctly.

Nostalgia trip to get out all the old albums anyway and a very blokish thing to do to set up in the office for hours, brushing aside the missus because you "are very busy"!

Us men have invented a myriad of ways over the years to keep ourselves busy doing nothing! *

* a family friend uses the term "duffle-coating" for such activity after her father was missing one year just as the Xmas lunch was being served up. He was found in the garden shed earnestly and busily polishing his duffle coat buttons!!

Cannot you get something that plugs into you amp and connects to your computer - so that it records from the pre amp bit and you just play the LPs, (I knew that this term would come back - I keep calling CDs LPs and my offspring look at me as though I am stupid), on your normal turntable and the amp sends the signals to the computer

pretty sure audacity will slice up your recordings for you. It looks for the quiet part (gap between songs) and splits them there into individual tracks.

its a zennox and comes with an audacity set up CD:thumb

doing it realtime is a real chore though.

have also been buying CDs for £2-4 off e bay which is a lot easier.

That's how I would want to do it. It would be worthwhile getting a good turntable (Rega, Projekt, Thorens etc) and reselling on Ebay once the vinyl has been converted.

Al :)
