I can't speak for anyone other than myself but I've always been against buying ex demo vehicles. The reasoning behind this is when I take a test ride/drive I generally wring every last bhp/rev out of the engine to check out performance, handling and smoothness. I take time to ride/drive normally too to evaluate what is is like to drive on a day to day basis. I'm sure I'm not alone doing this and I expect some demo vehicles get a good thrashing from day one and in my view this is not good.

Just my 2p worth that's all.

also, why Remus on a demo?

maybe the original scratched and replaced?

lots of dealers fit them over here cos they realise how shit they sound standard:) :)

...also....the demo from CW's that I rode last week has been dropped on at least on occasion. Scuffs to hand guards and I think one on one of the cylinder heads.

I like the sound of the stock above 5000 RPM, also a potential buyer would like to know how the STOCK bike performs not a modified one.

well my '03 1150 was an ex-demo and it's a corker

yes - I would always (at some stage during the test ride) give it some serious throttle action, but I reckon most BMW test pilots would know when to stop - anyway, don't they have rev-limiters to stop ham-fisted Bandit owners trying to rev it thru to 10,000 rpm

i don't know what's wrong with 'thrashing' an engine ?

i very much doubt the average tosser could ride it at the redline for more than a few seconds at a time.

When they come off the end of the production line in germany they are redlined in every gear to make sure readouts and parameters as as they should be.

I'd be happy to have a demo bike. It'll still outlast most people.

I'll consider myself suitably chastised. Nice to see that my opinions can be challenged and/or proved wrong with information to back it up.

Still wouldn't buy one though...I like new things :)
