I'm looking for a single copy of UBG pre the format change to A4 in 2002, ideally from late 80's to mid 90's.

I'm not after a specific one, but just want to bring back some memories of standing in the newsagents reading them as a young adult wondering if I would ever be able to afford to buy a bike, and if I could keep it from my parents. 📖

I've looked on Ebay but all are are post the format change to A4.

Seems like a long shot, but you never know. 🤞

They were an interesting mag,I think that in the 80s they were published bi-monthly,I threw loads of them away when I moved house in 1994.
This thread has brought back some lovely memories .

Yes, you've all shared my exactly my sentiments. Something about reading the stories sparked my imagination and I spent far too much time in the newsagents reading them. I even loved reading through the adverts. I must have been one of the most knowledgeable guys on the used bike scene without a bike licence, money or bike :ROFLMAO:.

I remember it, it was a good read.

I've got rid and chucked so much stuff out over the last decade or so, that with the inevitable house clearances of passed relatives has meant that I've become ruthless with personal possessions, but I just thought today I could justify a single copy of this on my bookshelf if I could find one :).

That was a great read loads of stories by normal bods

I remember going in search of, and buying a BMW K100RS, specifically the 8 valve model after reading the review in there. I also recall the opening line on their Yamaha FJ11(or 12 that detail evades me)…..’More bike journalists have spent their own money on this bike than….’

… just want to bring back some memories of standing in the newsagents…. Wondering if I’d ever be tall enough to reach the magazines (of a certain type) on the top shelf….

Fixed.

Good luck with your hunt. It was certainly a good magazine. EBay is probably your best bet, I guess.

Thanks , i suspect parents would have been happier if I came home with a copy of Mayfair rather than an edition of UBG 😄.

eBay draws a blank on the pre-format change versions .

That's awesome thank you @Barnoe , not sure why those didn't come up for me when I looked, I think it was her small hands that made me think it was an A4 edition (y) . I've purchased edition 89 from this list (1996).

About this time I managed to get a bike, a nice new CB500 from Granby Motors in Beeston, Notts.
