My first car was a Ford Pop 100E which was bought for £15 in 1968.
It used more oil than petrol and I trawled all the local garages every week with an empty gallon Castrol can and scrounged their used engine oil which they were only too glad to get shot of. I had a permanent blue cloud following me everywhere until eventually advised by the local constabulary that it constituted a hazard to other road users.
Sold it to a mate for the price I paid plus a packet of Benson & Hedges so I made on the deal. He put a Rover 2000 engine in it and ran it successfully on the local stock car circuits until it got mangled in a demolition derby
