Using an iPad/ MacBook

Its not beyond the realms of possibility that I'm a complete numpty with these things .
ATM, im making up routes on my MacBook, saving them as .gpx files then transferring onto the bike using a USB dongle. But it's a bit of a clunky way of doing things.
Also, i don't take my Mac with me, so im trying to learn how to do it using an Ipad

Interesting. What bike and what sat nav are you trying to use it with? Might help people troubleshoot for you

As I understand your problem, it’s that your iPad (running MyRoute) is unable to transfer GPX files, directly into the Honda navigation system on your Goldwing? Is that correct?

The only way seems to be via USB.

Yet MRA is compatible with Car Play and works just fine on the Wing.
Did 800 miles on mine in Brittany and it was just fine once I eliminated user error ! :-)
Don’t really see the need to transfer route files. Just plug your phone in and open up the MRA app…..

It sounds that you are trying to "Export" a route from MRA. Don't do that - use "Save as" instead. That will save the .gpx file wherever you want it.

But.....even easier is to simply wirelessly send the route from the MRA app on your phone to your Garmin.

From the MRA app Home Screen, click on "Routes", then click on the route you want. That should then show an overview of the route, with some buttons below. Click on the middle one with the download icon (arrow pointing down). It will ask for a format - so choose .gpx1.1 or .gpx1.2 (or anything else you want). You should then see a popup saying "File has been saved" with a yellow button saying "Export". Choose Garmin Drive from the "share sheet" that appears and it will send the route to Drive, which should then send it to your Garmin unit.

Depends if you have the MRA Navigator. A lot use MRA to plan routes and then transfer to their sat nav.

As it all seems to revolve around the Honda Goldwing’s inability to accept MyRoute GPX files, other than through a USB stick or via Car Play, probably Arsey (who owns an iPad, uses MyRoute and owns a Goldwing) is best placed to assist.

Why not just use the MRA on Apple Car Play ?
Works a treat.

The big bike has ACP, but the silver bullet doesn’t. Therefore I need a satnav.

Negative, getting planned routes onto the wing is ok, I use MRA , save the route as a .gpx file. Then put on a dongle and into the wing.
The problem is trying to put routes directly onto a satnav using a wired connection.

How is it ? I’m waiting for a WRS touring screen.

Seems very good. Proper test in 2 weeks when I’m heading over to mainland Uk and up to Peak District for a long weekend.
