I'm looking at a car type gps (TomTom,Garmin etc..)
Is it possible to just lob the thing in the tankbag and run a charger from the power socket via an adapter? (ie BMW plug to Cig lighter type)
I've read all the posts on here but they all seem to just want to hard wire one in. Surely its possible to do this as long as you don't discard the original plug with the transformer in.
If i'm missing something obvious please tell me.

No problem

Hi Hubert,
I use a Garmin 265W and use a bmw power socket to cig lighter converter that sits nicely in the tool tray with the garmin power supply plugged into it.
No problems at all.

Hi Hubert

Prior to getting my zumo I run a tom tom which I used in the car. It works fine with a cigarette lighter adapter. There is a lot of messing about though it's not waterproof so needs to be covered and it has a touch screen. A bit of a pain to be honest.

i ran a TT 720 all through France in a clear topped Famsa tankbag on previous bike, it was great and when I slowed for a junction I could hear the instructions just fine, at other times listened to music via some Shure earphones and the instructions would come over the ear thingies too.
Only ball ache was that it was not ideally placed on the tank, necessitating an awkward bend of head to see map if you didn't hear tyhe directions

Thanks for the advice guys.
Looks like a Tom Tom for me plugged into the intercom.
