Using the BMW puncture kit

I'm aware that I'll probably never use the thing but I was interested in finding out how to.

I kept the puncture kit from my 1150 which I traded in for the 1200. I was so pissed at how little they give you on the new bike, 'call that a tool kit'?

The argument the dealer made was that with BMW call out I'd probably never need the tool kit. That may be true but I'd hate to be in the back of beyond with a flat tyre waiting for them to come.

So if anyone has the instructions on how to use the tyre repair kit I'd be very grateful.

Believe me, last time out we were a Looooooong way from BMW call out, North of Pretoria in the bush, the pig got a flat and I was running sweep, the second last man saw I was missing and came back, by the time the rest of the crew were back the tyre was plugged and my compressor whirring away.

Those plugging kits are magic and so easy to use, I would never ride without one here in Darkest Africa. 1ST DAY OF SPRING TODAY.

For some reason I managed to miss PikeyDave's original thread, but I've added it and a link to the one Derek just pointed out to the Font of all wisdom section :thumb

If there's any more good information, that would be the place to add it so it's all in the same place :thumb

Many thanks! You can be sure that having asked I'm now sure to get a puncture, but at least I know what to do now.

Many thanks again. :thumb

Just make sure you've got a handy gorilla standing by to undo the wheel nuts :D Got a slow puncture lat week, so decided to wait until this weekend to get it sorted. Tried for about an hour last night to loosen the wheel nuts, only manage to whack my hand a few times on various parts of the bike! Sprayed around the wheel nuts with WD40 and left overnight. With a fair bit of force, and using a different wheel brace (longer arm than the BM one) I finally manage to get the wheel off this morning. Now off to National Tyres to get it sorted - I've decided to just fit a new tyre as I'm off to France in 3 weeks.

There are several posts on here from riders that haven't taken the tyre in to be replaced after using the BMW repair kit. I think their advice is that the repair is only temporary and to get the tyre changed asap, but I wonder whether this is the BMW legal boys covering their arses, as several have been quite happy riding with the "temporary" repair in until the tyre needed changing anyway and nothing to do with the repair.
