I would like to reconfigure the right hand light switch controls so:

position 1: (normally all off) - just the low beam on. This would be how the US spec bikes are if im not mistaken, due to regs theyre not allowed an 'all off' situation. i never ride without lights anyway so not fussed about losing this.

position 2: (normally low beam only) - both low beam and aux lights on. feed which would normally turn low beam on repurposed to trigger aux light relay.

position 3: (normally high beam) - high beam and aux lights

Is there a 'jumper' somewhere that turns US spec to UK spec and vice versa, or is the difference hard wired?

Later bikes, not sure when the regs came in; like the 1200 don't have a lights switch, so it is sidelight engine not running, engine running sidelight AND dipped headlight.

You only have choice of high or low main beam. So you may not need to look at US models for switchgear.

cheers tag but dont need the switchgear, my old r1100gs (which i should have said earlier) has the 3 position switch. i just want to reconfigure it ;)

turns out i had it wrong. right hand switch feeds 12v via yellow and white wire to the left hand switchgear where the other switch chooses to power low (yellow) or high (white). the first position on the left switchgear is park lights.

need to rethink now :D
