you know when you ride a bike for the first time, without any real interest and not expecting to like it ? well, swapped bikes with a friend on a ride out this morning a 2022 v85tt, and was very pleasantly suprised,, what a nice bike !! , comfy, good brakes, handles ok, and a lovely engine,, never going to set your pants on fire but a lovely bike to ride round the country lanes we were on,, i would seriously consider one now (y) :)

I like the look of em too.

How does it compare to something like a hexhead GS I wonder. ?

If you liked the 22 model you'll love the 24 model.

wrinkly ,, is there that much of a diffrence with the new model in terms of how it feels on the road ? i thought it was more of just a mild update to comply with euro regs and a new dash ?

I fell for it too. Changed from a TC. Less power, smaller, better looking and more fun. It does wake up if revved… A great little bike.

I’ve just bought one to join my three airheads, a nice upgrade from my Himalayan, a mate of mine bought it a year ago but decided he preferred his R100GS. I’m really pleased with it so far.

The difference is not massive, but to me it certainly feels better fueled and a little perkier.

I'd love to try one, unfortunately they dont cater for short people, so no test rides from a delaer

Almost everyone who rides one mentions the comfort. The ergonomics really seem to work for lots of folk.
3000 miles in, no hip pain like I had on the R1200RS. Numb bum starts at 150 miles, 200 and I am shuffling about. Probably 2 short stops in that 200, more in recent days with Spanish heat, 40C yesterday arriving in Cordoba

Yes I feel they got the ergonomics right, even the stock seat was fine and even better after removing the bump pad. Wind noise and buffeting is probably biggest criticism and adding one of those winglets in front of the shield took care of the worst of that for me. Guzzi addressed this on the 2025 models. I'm sensitive to excess heat on motorcycles and that's not been any issue at all on my 2021. Those who mention heat seem to all be on 2019/2020 E4 models.

One of the best things I’ve added to the bike is a Cool Cover mesh seat thing. Super comfy and in hot weather it keeps your nether regions nicely aired so you don’t get that awful pain on those pressure points. 8 hour days albeit with two or three stops are no bother.

I've never tried a mesh seat cover on a bike, might look into one.

One thing that makes the V85 Adventure such a nice touring bike (in addition to comfort) is how well it can carry stuff. The included top load panniers hold a lot and the tubular rear rack is easy to strap to. This was last week and includes cool and wet weather gear, tent, mattress, sleeping bag, tools, camp chair, bourbon, etc. (I tend to over pack). Everything is low and not too far back.

This is exactly how I came to buy my V85tt. I was away for a few days in Northumberland with some riding pals. I was on my T120 Bonneville, and Dave offered to swap bikes for the day, he has a 2021 Centenario version, now with 20,000 trouble free miles on it. I was immediately impressed with the riding position and it was easier to ride fast than the T120. In an ideal world I would have kept the Bonneville as well, but I had to trade it in.
Hopefully next years Guzzi/Gootsi bash will be better attended if more forum members are coming over from the dark side. UKMGer you know it makes sense :D

Do we stay in Dent, do we venture elsewhere? Do we stick to the W/E or do we do it midweek? No need for a post card, log your thoughts here.

Stay in Dent? Don't mind as long as its somewhere equally pretty and with good pubs on the doorstep. How far is Margaret prepared to travel? :D

Midweek? For those of us still in full time employment, weekends are probably preferable. Certainly for me.

BTW, who won the race to Teesdales to buy / buy back the Stelvio?? :D

I’ve long considered the V85 to be the natural successor to the R100GS. When I rode one we decided it was a bit cramped 2 up compared to the airhead GS but perhaps need to review this. Curious as to what your mate prefers about the R100GS or didn’t like about the V85??

My mate is in his late seventies, he’s very old school when it comes to technology, he’s never had an email address,😀and feels that even the limited technology on the V85 is wasted on him. I look after his airheads for him, the old school feel of the airhead suits him perfectly. He tried to get on with the V85 but offered it to me when I rode it for a day.
