Just found this over on Advrider and as well as being very very good as a guide, it's superbly done so I thought i'd post the link in case someone hasn't seen it.

Now why cant they do the Haynes manuals like this!!!

We already have this under the links tab at the top of the page, thanks to Paul.

I read that last night and sure do understand it better now. Now when are you suppose to set them valves again? Is it every 12000 or 24000 miles ;)

And on a more serious note where can I buy those loose feeler gauges as I only own the combination set.

Cheers

Halfords do (or used to do) a set from their Professional range which had feeler blades which unhooked from their holder.

Good question I´d wouln´t mind knowing how often people do the adjustment (not how often recomended). Bet its more frequently than recomended?

I knew my 1150's carbs were perfectly balanced so when I started feeling a little more vibration (right handlebar) than usual I thought I would do my tappets. That was at 18,000 ml. It hadn't been done any earlier and only two of the valves were unacceptably out of adjustment.

It took no more than and hour to do (with two sets of feeler gauges) but it made a significant difference to the smoothness of the bike. Recommended.
