well ive just done the end float and valve clearances for the first time in perhaps 6 years!
My god what a difference is made. Turbine smooth compared to before and QUIET.
Didnt take too long and while I was in there I did the oil etc too
HEre are the before and after figures... scary reading on one of them
INTAKE - before 0.05 & 0.13, supposed to be 0.15mm
EXHAUST - before 0.23 & 0.15, supposed to be 0.30mm
END FLOAT - 0.23 & 0.3, supposed to be between 0.05mm & 0.40mm (BIG variation so i went for the 0.05mm gap)
The left head intake was 0.05 but one of them was pretty much closed (the gap) so I reckon valves may have been at risk there soon!
cracking job and the endfloat was dead easy to reign in, unlike the horror stories I have heard on line![]()

next job is to replace the cam chain tensioners
mine still has the original ones in (17mm heads)
