Valve clearance check

Hi

I am about to check the valve clearance on my GS1100 however i have a Hepco & Bekker Engine Bar fitted. Has anyone done this job with the bars still on the bike or is it neccesary to remove the bars to gain access to the valves. Just thought i'd ask this question to save a bit of time

You can do it, just, but its a right pain and really slows things up. I'd take 'em off if I did it again.

Did mine with the bars still on..A bit tight on the right hand side but still a lot easyer than removing them i recon

take the joining bolt out in front of the engine, slacken the rear mounting bolts a bit & it makes it easier.


next time you have the tank off, swap the top mount cap head bolts for hex head & you'll be able to loosen them too without removing the tank
