Sorry for bringing this well discussed topic. My bike is at 24 000 and it is due valve clearance check.
I was considering to do the job myself, but I am put of by the fact I find it reasonably complex. Lot of people here mentioned that their valves did not need much adjustment over quite some time. I don't want to deny my bike an essential service, but how I look at the valve clearance check is that if the valves are ok (which one does not know before checking), they do not need to be checked anyway.
Does the dealer usually provides you with the value of valve clearance upon completion of the job?
Would you guys say that it would be reasonable to postpone the check to say 28-30000 miles?
