Hi Jets....a few things that I have found useful

A tip I picked up from the US Airheads site a few years ago - The gaps will, (may), decrease when you tighten the locking nut.........you could try adding a bit, (0.05 mm), to the 0.10mm and 0.20mm, (i.e. start at 0.15mm and 0.20mm), and see what the gaps end up at, (hopefully 0.10mm and 0.20mm), once tightened
0.05mm may not be "right" for your Bike.....but with trial and error you will find out what is right.

pressure on the top of the rocker arm, (push rod)

Sliding fit..with a slight resistance

Check BEFORE adjusting to find out if there has been any change since you last did them

The RHS always sounds noisier than the left

not too tight

Why is the right side noisier? Mine certainly is no matter what I do..... But WHY?:nenau

No idea why the RHS is always noisier...........they seem to have always been like that...........anyway as far as the Bikes that I have had are concerned........it seems more noticeable when you are riding along at about 50mph with the engine not under strain

To the uninitiated the tappet noise on the Boxer engine sounds horrible..........but to Airheads fans it is just normal and without it it would not be an Airhead

BigJets.......were the tappets noisier after you have adjusted them?............remember they always sound noisy...........and the impression that there is something wrong can be just psychological
