Doing valve clearance checks today as part of service at home. Thought I'd learned the lesson about cross-threading bolts... turn it anticlockwise a few times to make sure it's properly seated before trying to tighten it up... but appears I've done a tiny wee bit of thread stripping (2008 GSA, right hand valve cover, top right bolt). Caught it in reasonable time so it's only 1 "loop" of thread that's come out with the bolt.

Question is, what size 'helicoil' kit should I buy to fix it? Seems like the kits are about £35 at Screwfix. Any help appreciated.

If it's only one loop of thread that's been damaged I'd not bother with a helicoil, just tidy up the damaged area and there should be plenty left for the bolt to fasten to.

What Scotriders says

If? it's just one loop?

Leave well enough alone you have 8 - 10 more threads working correctly

Better to get a timesert fitted if you have made a real balls of it

Can measure on off the heads I have in the garage if you want?

It's low torque. Leave as is. Will be fine. If it really is stripped and you can't fasten it, then helicoil
